In a previous series I reviewed some of the more recent concepts of hungrywhyforweb
hunger, appetite and cravings.  The first step in controlling hunger isunderstanding  that many of the feelings interpreted as hunger maynot be hunger at all.  Many emotions masquerade as hunger when infact the body does not need food.  Hunger, the growling we get in ourstomach when we go a long time without food is normal  Often hungeris  triggered  by many internal and external signals.  Here is a checklist to help you decide whether your feelings are hunger  or someother emotion:
After all it's easy to lose weight when you're not hungry.



Check List To Evaluate Hunger
Consider this if  you feel hungry,
before you pick up the food:
Comments
Am I really thirsty and not hungry? thirst masquerades as hunger
Did I skip a meal? it's normal to be  hungry
Was the meal too small? also normal
Was there a lot of sugar or
carbs in the meal?
sugar and refined carbs
produce hunger
Are external signals telling me
to eat?
time of day, pictures of food
smells
Is it really hunger at all?
many emotions are disguised
as hunger: stress, depression
boredom, habit,
Using this table it's much simpler to decide if you are hungry or if it is some other emotion.
You can also evaluate hunger by the time of day you are hungry.
