Difference Between Fat vs. Thin People:

It's not the food, metabolism, or working out, that differentiates fat from thin people It's simply that thin people move around a lot, says recent study by  Dr Darcy Johannsen and co workers from the Iowa State University published in Obesity, 2008.
Confirming the studies of Dr James Levine from the Mayo Clinic, this group of researchers found that obese people sit 2.5 hrs more per day than thin people. Food intake and metabolism were the same thru the test  periods for both thin and obese women studied in this report. Planned exercise such as gym work outs also did not differ. What  was different was the the amount of unplanned activity between obese and thin people. This included housework, walking, shopping, cleaning and most important simply standing.

Obese subjects were standing 2 hours less per day than there obese counterparts.  When they did light activity they were able to do it will less effort. (Lean subjects spent  28 cal/lb body weight vs. 17 cal/lb body weight for thin people participating in activities.  These authors and Dr Levine estimate that if obese people could adopt the minimal exercise of the the lean individuals they would burn off an extra 365 cal/day.
