740 Calories & 76 Grams of Sugar for a Chocolate Mocha or a Hazelnut Hot Chocolate!
Let's face it, It's just an excuse to drink a milkshake, the danger is that it is presented as being "healthy" and trendy.

It's the trendy image of Starbucks-Not the cost: Americans are distressed with paying $3.00 dollars or more for their gas, but not for a $ 4.75 glass of java chip Frappuccino- 530 calories of coffee, syrup, milk, ice, and whipped cream. When it comes to high priced coffees, there seems to be no limit.
Coffee is America's Fuel: America's fuel is coffee, not gasoline with over 330 million cups of coffee drunk a day. Bob Thompson, a professor at Syracuse University writes, " One could really make the argument that coffee is the "American lubricant." It lubricates social situations and the workplace.
As you're working during the day, coffee becomes the equivalent of 'in-flight fueling station,'" says Thompson. "You grab a cup on your way to work, you've got your little commuting holder in your car, there's a pot at work."
Caffeine is the drug, it's NOT the taste that drives people to Starbucks: Is it the taste of coffee or the caffeine that makes it so great? It’s the buzz from the caffeine. Without caffeine there would be no coffee. Caffeine is a drug, it goes quickly to the brain telling the drinker he feels “great,” he has the energy and can “conquer the world”. Can you imagine Sherman in Thomas Wolf’s the Bonfire of the Vanities without his coffee?
Starbuck's The "Guiltless Milkshake" A cup of coffee is almost calorie-free -add the sugar, syrup, whipped cream and you have 600 calories! Americans can get 1/4 of their calories from that drink. If they were to consume 400 calories of food that they know is fattening they might skip a snack or two. But not with that “milk shake.
Here is how we can be fooled at Starbucks: People think that since it’s a liquid, it can’t be very fattening.
- Beverages are not as filling as food, so to be full some food is also needed.
- Beverages are consumed quickly, often in a car; the distraction of driving only makes the individual forget quickly what he just did.
- Distinctive Starbucks “experience” makes all of the difference.
It's all about the trendy atmosphere at Starbucks: Sit in a comfortable café with music, free Internet, newspapers and young friendly staffs with “Master Coffee Maker” tags that are called “partners” and all of your defenses are down. The new slogan of the week is, “Your drink should be perfect, every time. If not, let us know and we'll make it right."
All of this and the exotic foreign sounding names make you forget the 500 calories you just paid for a cup of coffee!
How really bad is Starbucks? Far worse than you might think:
A grandee mocha Frappuccino with whip cream, lots of ice, some milk, and some coffee, and a bit of whipped cream and chocolate on top, is a whopping 450 calories and 16g fat. That’s a lot calories and fat for a drink that started out at zero. How about a Chocolate mocha at 720 calories.
A tall latte. has an amazing two 210 calories. Most dieters would agree that these drinks would not be beneficial to their diets, but without knowing the calories and fat grams, in this beverage you can become seduced by the taste, and the ambiance surrounding them.
Starbucks Trick: Disguise a few low calorie drinks with the bad ones: Starbucks found the answer to nutrition: pay lip service to nutrition and healthy by sprinkling a few low calorie snacks and foods among the higher ones. Note of the 45 snacks (excluding the bagels) only 11 were less than 400 calories, and only 2 out of 45 were less than 300 calories. That is moderation the Starbucks way. No one can make the claim that it , “it tastes too good to be true” better.
